Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Core generators run in your browser. Your draft policy data stays on your device unless you choose to share, export, or create an account for monitoring. When you use account features, scans, or consent logs, we store the minimum data needed to provide those services.

What We Don't Collect

  • We don't sell personal information or share it with data brokers
  • We don't run third-party ads on LegalKit
  • We don't collect draft policy data unless you explicitly share or sync it

What We Collect (When You Use Optional Features)

We collect only what is needed to run optional features like scanning, consent logs, and accounts:

  • Account info (email, name) if you create an account
  • Billing and subscription metadata (handled by our payment provider)
  • Scan inputs and report summaries when you request a scan report or share link
  • Consent logs if you enable server-side proof logging
  • Basic analytics (page views, device type, rough region) to improve the product

We use this data to provide the service and improve it. We do not sell personal information.

Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to save your form progress. This data:

  • Stays on your device only
  • Is never transmitted to our servers
  • Can be cleared anytime via your browser settings
  • Can be reset using the "Reset Form" option in any generator

Share Links

When you create a share link from a generator, your form data is encoded directly in the URL. This means:

  • No draft data is stored on our servers - it's all in the URL
  • Anyone with the link can see the data you shared
  • Be careful who you share links with - treat them like documents

Scan report links are generated server-side so you can access them later.

Your Rights

You can request access, deletion, or export of your account data by emailing us. If you never created an account, most data stays local in your browser.

TL;DR: We built LegalKit to be privacy-first. Draft policy data stays on your device unless you opt into sharing or account features. We don't sell data. We make money through subscriptions and paid features.
